Detailed Product Description:
Walnut shell grit is the hard fibrous product made from crushed walnut
shells. When used as a blasting media, walnut shell grit is extremely
durable, angular and multi-faceted, yet is considered a “soft abrasive.”
Cleaning by walnut shell blasting is particularly effective where the
surface of the substrate must retain its dimensional integrity. Walnut
shell grit can be used as a soft aggregate in removing foreign matter or
coatings from surfaces without etching, scratching or marring cleaned areas.
Walnut shell media is commonly used to clean aircraft engines and steam turbines,
stripping auto and truck panels, cleaning delicate molds, jewelry polishing, preparing
armatures and electric motors prior to rewinding, de-flashing plastics and watch
polishing. It removes paint, flash, burrs and other flaws in plastic and rubber
molding, and aluminum and zinc die-castings. It can replace sand in paint removal,
graffiti removal and general cleaning in restoration of buildings, bridges and
outdoor statuaries.
Application Notes:
Use this abrasive to clean internal parts. Any of the soft abrasive material
left in the working part will break down with minimal damage. The best
media choice for removing baked-on carbon deposits from ferrous metals
(ex. iron, steel), or to clean internal parts. Great for gentle removal of paint
and carbon from ferrous metals. Strong enough to exhibit fast cutting action
on deposits without harming the metal. Works well for cleaning soft metals
like aluminum, copper and brass without appreciable surface attack.
