Detailed Product Description:
Calcium nitrate, also called Norgessalpeter (Norwegian saltpeter),
is a white colored soluble hygroscopic, deliquescent salt. It is
commonly found as a hydrate, with the formula Ca(NO3)2*4H2O.
Soluble in water, alcohol and acetone.
Grade/Purity:
This is ACS Reagent Grade with a minimum purity of 98%.
Applications:
It is commonly used as a reagent, in pyrotechnics and in fertilizers. The
fertilizer grade is popular in the greenhouse and hydroponics trades.
History:
Norgessalpeter was the first nitrogen fertilizer compound to be manufactured.
Production began at Notodden, Norway in 1905. Most of the world's
calcium nitrate is now made in Porsgrunn.
