Detailed Product Description:
Red Fuming Nitric Acid, sometimes referred to as “RFNA,”
is a reddish brown, transparent liquid that fumes readily due to release
of nitrogen dioxide on exposure to air. Soluble in water. Corrosive
to almost all metals. Commonly used as the oxidizer in rocket fuels
and explosives, photoengraving, etching of steel and in electropolishing.
Grade/Purity:
This is reagent grade, Red Fuming Nitric Acid, >90% concentration
It is comprised of pure nitric acid (HNO3) containing 12-24% dissolved
oxides of nitrogen as N2O4 (dinitrogen tetroxide) and less than 5%
water. Being a chemically pure grade this product contains no corrosion
inhibitors.
Precautions:
Read and understand all precautions stated in Material Safety Data Sheet
(MSDS, downloadable below) before using this substance.
Strong irritant to eyes and skin. Dangerous by inhalation. Corrosive to skin
and mucous membranes. Strong oxidizing agent. Dangerous fire risk
when in contact with organic materials.
