Detailed Product Description:

This is gray/white crystalline inorganic salt, slightly soluble in water.

It is comprised of a mixture of potassium hexa-fluoroaluminates and

potassium tetrafluoroaluminates. 

It serves as an alternative to conventional fluoride salts for a variety of

applications including insecticides and fluxes where it may be used by

itself or in conjunction with other salts such as sodium chloride and

potassium chloride.

Some aluminum foundry alloy producers use as their exclusive magnesium

remover in place of significantly more dangerous chlorine gas.

In powder form it is often used in the manufacture of grinding wheels as a

filler/binder.  It is also a common additive to roofing shingles as an alkaline

pH buffer, a color additive, and for its flame retarding characteristics. 

Additionally, glass producers use it to add cloudiness to glass.

Precautions:

Toxic by ingestion and inhalation.  Strong irritant. Avoid breathing of dust.

Not considered hazardous for air, sea or road shipment.
